What is the Solihull Approach?

The Solihull Approach aims to increase emotional health and well-being through both practitioner and parent training.

It is an internationally recognised intervention to strengthen the bond between parents and children and has been referred to in the most recent ‘MERTIL’ (Victorian maternal and child health nurses) training aimed at helping to protect our children from the enduring effects of early relational trauma.

Developed in the UK, with this training, participants learn to help caregivers identify, acknowledge and understand emotions that often prevent them from sensitively interpreting their infant and child’s behaviour.
